Group Informational Sessions

$125 per couple

  • Lecture and Q&A format

  • Scheduled for October- January each year

  • Free Child care offered on site (ages 2+)

  • Lap babies and younger children welcome with parent(s)

  • 4 hours in length | Saturdays 9:00am - 1:00pm (Denver)
    2:00pm - 6:00pm (Stapleton Enrolment Zone)

  • Public & Private school brochures and special guests

 

Objectives:

  1. Teach you how to successfully navigate the Denver public and private school Preschool/Kindergarten/Elementary process

  2. Connect you with valuable public and private resources

  3. Get you excited about the choices available

  4. Explain odds and admission priority groups for boundary, lottery, and Private Schools

  5. Prepare you to tour schools and speak with teachers and principals

  6. Demystify the DPS Choice process
     

Your assigned boundary school is legally holding a spot for you starting in Kindergarten, until you choice in somewhere else. If you live in an Enrollment Zone, you are legally guaranteed a spot at ONE of the schools in that zone starting in Kindergarten, until you choice in somewhere outside of the zone.

 

DPS Round 1 Choice deadlines are in February of the year they will start  for Preschool (ECE) - 12th Grade. Choice is determine using your randomly assigned lottery number within your admission priority group for each school.

DPS Round 2 starts in April and is first come, first serve within each admission priority group.

ECE Wait lists stay open until April (8 months after school starts).  K-12 Wait lists stay open until the end of September.

Before & After Care deadlines  are in May (DPS Discovery Link) and June/July (YMCA) for new families.

Summer Camp deadlines are in February (YMCA) and March (DPS Discovery Link).

 

It's never too early - all ages welcome! The sessions are designed to best help Denver area parents of kiddos age 2-5+, who are 6 months or more out from starting Kindergarten, and those moving into Denver with kiddos of any age.

Denver classes are designed for those who live in the Denver Public School (DPS) system, or who want to choice into DPS. Parents attend who are moving into Denver, live in the DPS boundary, and those that live in nearby districts: Littleton, Englewood, Cherry Creek, Jeffco, Aurora, etc.
